Week 46
Company News:
Team,
We know this comes as a disappointment, but after careful consideration, the 2021 Muth Christmas party has been cancelled due to the recent outbreaks of Covid cases in our community and feedback from employees.
For the safety and wellbeing of our team members and family members, we feel this is right decision and hope you understand.
Next year, we
hope to carry on with tradition! Until then, we will make the best of the
holidays in a safe manner.
Team,
Last Thursday, the Biden
administration under OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration)
announced an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) where large
companies have until Jan. 4, 2022 to ensure that their
workforce is fully vaccinated or their remaining unvaccinated workforce
undergo weekly Covid-19 testing and wear masks while on-site.
Because Muth has more than 100
employees, Muth falls under the definition of large company and will be
obligated to comply with the requirements of the ETS. Non-compliance with the
mandate could subject Muth to penalties of a minimum of $14,000 up to a maximum
of $140,000 for each violation.
We know that on Saturday, a
federal appeals court temporarily blocked the administration from implementing
the ETS. Because the timeline to execute the provisions of the mandate is
short, Muth is going to begin taking steps to fulfill our obligations. If the
federal appeals court permanently blocks the mandate, Muth will stop the
implementation and wait for further guidance.
Step 1 will be to determine the
Covid-19 vaccination status of all Muth employees. All employees who want to be
considered vaccinated must email a copy or photo image of your Covid-19
vaccination card or a printout from the Wisconsin Immunization Registry to
Angie Houseye by Friday, November 12th. The card or Wisconsin Immunization
Registry printout must show the vaccination administration dates so we can determine
vaccination status as of December 5th, 2021. To be fully vaccinated by December
5th, you will need to have the final dose of your chosen vaccine administered
by November 20th. Anyone who is not fully vaccinated by December 5th will be
required to wear a mask while on site.
Further information about the
mandate will be provided in the coming weeks. Some of the remaining issues that
need to be addressed are;
- How will
testing be conducted and who will pay for the test (Muth or unvaccinated
members?)
- How to
communicate vaccination status change to Angie.
All information received will
be kept fully confidential. Any questions, please let me know.
Thank you,
Angie Houseye
Human Resources Manager
