Week 1
Team,
Tomorrow, January 7, 2022, the Supreme Court is set to review Biden’s Covid- 19 vaccine and testing mandate. One measure requires companies that have 100 or more employees to implement a vaccination requirement or impose a masking and weekly testing regime for employees that are unvaccinated.
The Supreme Court must decide whether to block the requirements while legal battles continue, or to let them be implemented during that time. Unless something changes, Muth must continue to prepare for the mandate beginning next Monday, January 10th with the current information we know today.
Beginning Monday, January 10, 2022, Muth will follow the process below:
- Any employee who is unvaccinated for any
reason—including for medical or religious reasons—must wear a face
covering at all times while inside the work place. Exceptions
include the following:
- When an employee is alone in a room with floor to
ceiling walls and closed door.
- For a limited time while the employee is eating or
drinking or for identification purposes in compliance with safety and
security requirements.
- When an employee is wearing a respirator.
- Members must supply Human Resources with proof of
vaccination to have on file by tomorrow, Friday, January 7, 2022, or they
will be considered unvaccinated and will need to comply with the mask
mandate.
- A person is considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after completion of a two-dose mRNA series or one dose of Janssen vaccine.
Weekly mandatory Covid- 19 testing for unvaccinated members is set to begin Wednesday, February 9th. 2022. As a reminder:
- Human Resources must
have proof of Covid- 19 vaccination to be excluded from weekly testing.
- Muth will provide onsite testing for unvaccinated
employees for the cost of $25 per test subject to rapid tests being
accepted by OSHA guidelines and subject to availability.
- Non-vaccinated Employees will pay for every test via
payroll deduction or cash.
- Alternative testing sites can be used – These
sites include pharmacies, clinics, etc. Test results have to be
submitted to HR on a weekly basis. We are unsure whether these
testing sites will remain a no cost service after the mandate goes into
effect.
- OSHA requires employers to support vaccination by providing employees reasonable time off to receive each vaccination and to recover from possible side effects.
We will continue to monitor decisions made by the Supreme Court regarding the mandate and will send updates if changes should be made.
Also, as a reminder, based on all Sheboygan County companies following these guidelines, expect long wait times and low availability of Covid-19 tests.
